The Purpose and Function of Mayan Pyramids

The Purpose and Function of Mayan Pyramids      Ancient civilizations have always been fascinating to me, especially the megalithic structures that they created, some of which we can not replicate even with the current technology we have today. The Mayans and Meso-American civilizations in general interest me the most as they were a very advanced society with writing systems, records, astronomical calendars and more. I think learning about what caused their civilization to collapse, and others for that matter, is important to prevent the same thing from happening to our own current civilization. I greatly enjoyed doing my research about the Mayans and their pyramids. It is quite impressive how a civilization with no major boats, no use of the wheel and only stone tools could build such massive and impressive structures.

Orangutan Conservation

This blog was made to bring awareness to orangutan conservation. Orangutans have three species, all of which are endangered, Bornean, Sumatran, and Tapanuli. The Tapanuli orangutans are the most endangered with approximately only 800 remaining in the wild. They face habitat loss due to farming and deforestation as well as poaching.  World Wildlife Foundation  is working hard to help save the species by protecting their habitats and connecting orangutan populations to help their genetics. In Sumatra they help fund Thirty Hills, one of the last places where orangutans still coexist with tigers and elephants.
